Thanks for that Colin,
I just found and responded to the new group and it seems like they’ve taken initiative and the first call is this weekend.
Thank you for moving things around!
Tony
Thank you both! I definitely need to knuckle down and spend more time on *one* project, building one enough for it to make enough money to outsource make a lot of sense too.
That’s awesome, how much did you have to put into it to get there? As in producing content and keyword research, editing etc?
My traffic is slowly increasing but I’m not sure if it’s me adding content and unique images every so often or if the HCU is going through a correction, hopefully both!
Yep, same boat – but the two sites I’m working are nowhere near 600k a month so I assume with me it’s just a case of increasing traffic. I have a few affiliate products in places that make sense, but will probably start with ads and go from there.
My sites are gradually getting more traffic so either I’m doing something right (but slow) or the HCU is correcting itself 🤷🏼♂️
I thought I was but it looks like I didn’t join, I’ll do that now, thanks!
My one project is tanking despite just doing some more content with unique images and a short Facebook campaign to get more of a following; but I’m not too worried as it seems Google has a lot of working out to do with its updates and my site seems to ride the waves, if that makes sense.
My second project is what I think I’ll focus on as it’s the best one for monetising in terms of intent and products, but in my naivety I figured the first one had more volume and as a passion project I wouldn’t get bored of it…
I’ll find the figures after work but the main one has gone from around 1,500 impressions and around 12-15 clicks to 600 impressions and 8 clicks.
My back up project has leaped past that one with barely any input with over 3000 impressions and 18 clicks.
Those figures probably seem like barely anything compared to other sites on here but I was very happy to reach past 3000 impressions, especially as it’s mostly from a few pages on things I know specifically about through my day job.
Long story short, I need to switch projects and work on the boring one in which I have direct experience in and spend more time on branding and creating content.
That’s a good point, no point paying for a list if it doesn’t at least cover itself. I’ve got as far as Aweber but only because I tried it for a project a long time ago and it seemed simple enough for me to use – not sure on pricing though
That’s my next thing to work on, placing a sign up somewhere prominent on my homepages and bio’s, just so that if a fraction of people who do visit and sign up to an email list, it means they’re already interested and must trust my site.
I would imagine with your traffic, you will get loads of sign ups, maybe you could create some sort of funnel for it? For my DIY niche site, I’m considering offering a pdf to anybody that signs up, along the lines of a “cheat sheet” or something more than they would find on the site alone. Trouble is, I’ve got many half-baked plans and keep getting sidetracked by other things I need to be doing and getting one Thing done first, if that makes sense? I’ve definitely got a case of Shiny Object Syndrome, too – which doesn’t help.
